Это направление в музыке выросло из столь могучих корней, уходящих в глубокую языческую древность, что различия в музыкальном языке, характерном для той или иной местности, становятся несущественными. недаром умение сочинять и исполнять музыку в Ирландии и Шотландии издревле приравнивалось к одному из видов магии, а многие формы музыкального творчества древних кельтов появились задолго до германских мейстерзингеров или французских трубадуров.

Энциклопедия, предназначена для любителей этнической музыки, предоставляет современному слушателю возможность познакомиться с богатейшим наследием кельтских сказителей и певцов, с той ветвью живой традиции, которая не угасла со временем, а продолжает существовать в творчестве своих продолжателей.
